Kenya Safari 2013

Another early safari taken in May. Overall the weather was not too bad at all. As usual David met us at Nairobi airport. Overnight at the Ole-Sereni Hotel between the airport and the city, overlooking Nairobi National Park, this is an ideal place to start your safari. This left us on the right side of the city to set off for Tsavo the following morning. Please note that the time stamp on these images is GMT so add 3 hours for local time.

Three nights at Kilaguni Safari Lodge. Stunning view from the terrace over the water hole. Early morning and late afternoon game drives separated by relaxing on the terrace.

Amboseli
Ol Tukai Lodge. Great views over the swamp with a fairly open aspect. This suits us for our astronomy interest. Three nights here all with clear skies so we were able to do some imaging. At midnight the power goes off and the Milky Way comes out, spectacular.
Lake Elemantaita
Once again we stayed at The Sunbird Lodge overlooking the lake. Plenty of birds around the lodge. From here we took drives to Lake Nakuru and Hells Gate.

Ashnil Mara Lodge. A new one for us 6 nights here. On the Olkeju river there is only one way out of the camp. In the wet season many of the tracks are not usable without a 4 wheel drive vehicle which we did not have. This mean that we continually retraced our path twice a day.

If you would like to experience a safari like this then email David Karanja who was our guide and driver.

You book a flight to Nairobi, and he will take care of everything else.

Tell him you got his name from us.
